Two years later….

December 2021 was the last time Bellflower was operational. Now, over two and a half years later, we’re opening again.

On Friday, Tori from the King County Health Department stopped by with her notebooks, folders, pens, and test strips. She scanned and poked and swiped our space, finally neat and tidy after a lot of moving stuff in and out, a couple of visits by the plumber, and hours spent bathroom and floor and drain scrubbing. Then, she gave us our permit. “Excellent!”, it read.

Our plan is to start small and hyper local, making stuff as I go and letting people know when it’s available. I need to set up systems that lapsed or, in the case of our Clover payment device, was stolen (that thing was $500, too – ouch). Bellflower isn’t our main source of income, so we have the luxury of figuring out what its reincarnation look like *. You’re welcome to follow along.

* Speaking of which, we are renting out our space. If you know of a small food producer looking for a commercial kitchen, send them my way! callie@bellflowerchocolate.bar
